Dynastic Families Monopolies Dictatorships of India

No offense but without "socialist democracy" we would today be like Pakistan. It was our affiliation with the USSR which gave us a functioning economy. Now, I'll admit- it didn't make us rich. But it gave us a basic modern infrastructure without a burden of loan. It's not the fault of socialism if we don't have the confidence or self belief to use what we have to propel ourselves. It's not our fault if we are always inherently depending on someone else "to show us the way." It's our mindset which is responsible for our paltry life standards we have today.
Look at all those "neo liberal" economies such as THailand. Philippines. Indonesia. Where are they today? Name me ONE non-geopolitical economy (to NATO) which has a high standard of living?

India sure is a prosperous and a rich country, but from independence to date, India has been unfortunate to have had corrupted Governments.
The whole system from top to bottom of every government department is largely corrupted. You just have to watch the movie 'dhoop'(om puri) based on a real life story (in delhi) to see to what extent the public is harassed by the government officials.
Inspite of numerous political parties surfacing post independence and moreso in the recent past, one cannot find any charisma in any of their leaders.
>> There should be a stop on registering new political parties.
>> The Election Commission of India should come up with this condition that any person desirous of contesting any poll, should be a graduate without any criminal record.
>> Only graduates could vote.
>> Politicians should retire by 65 years of age.
If changes such as these are brought about am sure there would be a remarkable change in the quality of our country's politics.

dont you think india is going in an era of hinduism upper caste etc nowadays if you join a government office you would be asked of caste, and there comes the division accordingly to the community.

India is NOT a destitute nation. I am quite sick of people prophesising doomsday and worse for our nation. We have done remarkably well, considering the fundamentals at the time of our independence.
We were a country of 360 million mostly poor people, divided on caste, religion and language basis. Most of the Indians were not integrated into the national fabric and getting everyone to think Indian and not Gujrati or Tamil was a huge task.
Our progress can be mapped by the fact that we no longer have the killer famines resulting in millions of deaths. The green revolution has ensured that we all have, to a certain extent, food and milk on our tables.
Poverty is rampant, that is something we can see. But we should be proud of the fact that we had a peaceful transition from socialism under the Gandhis's Congress to capitalism under Narasimha Rao's Congress. Now there is no reason to bemoan the lack of opportunity in India. If you want to be a millionaire, India ranks second after China for opportunities. I know this because I have recently completed my MBA from Purdue university and the people I met at graduation were of a similar opinion. The dean was inquiring about the ISB in Hyderabad and the potential competition Purdue faces. I have met high-ranking persons from KPMG, Deloitte Touche and other consulting firms bemoaning the fact that Wipro or TCS had stolen the latest contract from their clients. They do not speak about poverty or religion or the other ills that we choose to speak about as Indians. They were worried that they will be oliterated from the face of global economics by the twin engined torpedo of China and India. Now that goes to show the future of our country.
Focus on the positives:
1. We have a muslim president and a hindu prime minister. that should go a long way in proving our secularism.
2. In the IT, engineering and medical worlds, Indians are claiming more and more credit.
3. Indian culture is currently the rage in Europe. Everything Indian from cooking, clothing and movies are popular here.
4. Most countries welcome Indians. the only ones I have faced problems in are extremely xenophobic, countries where people from anywhere in the world are looked upon suspiciously. Ofcourse, if you are an illegal immifrant, then you will face another story, and that is a reasonable to expect.
Jai Hind!!!!

I guess we need to be more vocal about this. Our voices reach only those who agree with us. Most of the opinions posted overlap and are in concensus. But those who vote for the dynasty are the ignorants; so I guess we have to be more active about it.
